Coach Charlie Griffiths is in his eighth season. In seven years at the helm of CMS, Coach Griffiths has made his mark upon the program. SCIAC results include 65 SCIAC individual titles, 39 SCIAC records broken, 37 SCIAC relay titles, 27 SCIAC meet records set, 27 SCIAC Athlete-of-the-Week Awards, 7 SCIAC team titles, 4 SCIAC Swimmer-of-the-Year Awards and a 85-9 SCIAC dual meet record. NCAA results include 21 swimmers earning 45 All-American citations, 5 NCAA Top 15 team finishes and 3 NCAA individual titles. Overall results include a 97-28 dual meet record, varsity records set 63 times in 21 events and ASCA Awards for Excellence in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. He is ASCA Level V (highest possible rating) certified.

Coach Griffiths came to CMS from Denison University, where he served as assistant coach. During his three-year tenure, the school claimed its first NCAA Division III team title (2001 women), and snagged four additional runner-up trophies between the men's and women's teams. He worked with swimmers who produced 81 All-American performances, 21 national championship swims, 10 NCAA meet records, and 3 NCAA Swimmer-of-the-Year awards.

Prior to entering collegiate coaching, Griffiths was head swim coach and assistant aquatic director at the Oshkosh, Wisconsin YMCA. Under Griffiths the team won its first Wisconsin YMCA State Senior Meet championship. Additionally, the Oshkosh masters swim team he coached produced a bevy of USMS All-American awards, including a USMS national champion and record holder.

As a swimmer at Denison University, Griffiths was one of the most improved athletes in program history. Among other awards and honors, he served as team captain his senior year and gathered seven All-NCAC citations and NCAA cuts in the 100 fly in 1994 and 1995.

A native of Janesville, Wisconsin, Griffiths got his coaching start as an assistant with his former age group team, the J-Hawk Aquatic Club. He is also a coaching veteran at the Skip Kenney Stanford International Swim Camp and the Ohio State Swim Camp. Griffiths served as Deck Operations Crew Chief for the 2004 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Long Beach, CA. He is head coach and director of the US Sports Camps/Nike Swim Camp at Claremont McKenna College. The third CMS/Nike camp will be June 24-28, 2007.

In addition to his coaching duties, Griffiths is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education at CMS and is the chair of the SCIAC swimming coaches committee. He serves on faculty assignment at Harvey Mudd College.

Griffiths, his wife, Katherine, and daughter, Charlotte, reside in Claremont.

Coach Adams begins his fifth season with the CMS diving program, bringing exciting skills to the pool deck. He has coached 3 different divers to 5 SCIAC championships, an All-American award and 3 honorable mention All-American awards at CMS. After moving to the area, he established himself in the Southern California coaching circle. In addition to his coaching duties with the Stags and Athenas, Adams is the head coach of the Turn ‘n Burn Diving club, located in Riverside. After the NCAA Division III season concludes, Jimmy coaches the diving teams at Riverside Community College and Rancho Cucamonga High School.

Prior to his move to Southern California, Adams coached with American Flyers Diving, one of the premier clubs in Ohio. Coach "Jimmy," as his divers call him, is an accomplished athlete and has spent several years as a professional diver. He has appeared in shows throughout the United States, consisting of high diving exhibitions, as well as springboard and platform dives. In 2003, Jimmy represented the USA in the annual cliff diving championships held in Acapulco, Mexico, placing 11th overall. As a high school student, Jimmy was the 1988 and 1989 Colorado High School state champion on the 1-meter springboard, setting a state record in '89 for Wasson High School in Colorado Springs. Jimmy lives in Rancho Cucamonga.

Coach Romano begins his sixth season with the CMS swim program. In the 1970's and 1980's, Coach Romano spent 15 years with the El Monte Aquatic Club, one of the top AAU clubs in America. During this time, his swimmers produced Olympic medals and many National Age Group records.

With CMS, Coach Tom spends most of his time goading the distance swimmers in lanes 1-4 and has taken the lead in developing a resurgent "D-Unit." In addition to his coaching duties, Tom is a manager for Allstate Insurance. Tom and his wife, Barbara, live in Upland.

Shea Manning rejoins the team for his first season on the coaching staff. Throughout college, he coached in the Northern Virginia Swimming League, the nation's largest summer swim league for children ages 5-18. He spent the last year working in account management at the Corporate Executive Board in Washington, D.C. During that time, he also served as the Assistant Swim Coach at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, VA. The team produced a National Catholic Champion in the 50 yard freestyle as well as a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Manning is a 2007 graduate of Claremont McKenna College and a four year member of the team as both a swimmer and a diver. He is currently the only individual to be listed in the CMS All-Time Top Ten Performances List in both a swimming (200 Medley Relay) and Diving Event (1m and 3m). In the 2006 and 2007 seasons, he was voted by his teammates as the recipient of the Bo Schoenfeld-Most Inspirational Award. Manning resides in Upland.
