Coach Retzlaff has forged the Athenas tennis team in a perennial
SCIAC power and one of the best teams in the nation. Her 2006 squad
won their 12th SCIAC title and finished third in the nation, the
best finish by any CMS women's team in any sport. A great player in
her own right she was on scholarship at St. John's and was the team
MVP in both 1982 and 1984. After graduating she played for the US
Maccabi team from 1987-91 and won two golds (in Australia) and a
bronze (in Venezuela).
Retzlaff's coaching career began at Brooklyn College where she
coached for four years before taking time off to get her Master's
degree. After earning her M.S. she started at CMS and began the
Athenas tennis emmergence. She lives in Claremont with her husband
Steve, CMS' assistant head football coach, and their sons, Ryan,
Jacob and Daniel.

Colin hails from Cleveland, Ohio where he played for John
Carroll University earning three All-Ohio Athletic Conference
Awards and three nominations for JCU’s Athlete of the Year.
He worked as a tennis instructor at the Mount Auburn Club in
Watertown, Massachusetts before moving to California to begin
doctoral studies in Religion at Claremont Graduate University. He
is a PTR certified instructor, a former MLB All-Star batboy, and an
avid Cleveland sports fan.
