Weber-Shapiro's 38 Game Hitting Streak Ends

Alex Weber-Shapiro (SO, Berkeley) had his CMS record 38 game hitting streak end when he was 0-3 in the team's Friday game against La Verne. The streak, which broke the old CMS mark by five games, is tied for the seventh best in Division III history.  Weber-Shapiro did reach base in the game via walk and has reached base safely in 41 consecutive games.

Weber-Shapiro hit safely in the final seven games of last season and the first 31 games he played in this season.  Over the 38-game stretch he batted .479 (68 for 142) with 39 runs scored and 42 RBI's.  He has a hit in a remarkable 70 of 74 games in his career.  Last season, he was selected First Team All-SCIAC and West Region and was a Third Team All-American.  This season has earned All Tournament honors at the Cal State East Bay tournament where he hit .692 with three home runs and nine RBI's in three games.
