Ross, Kopczynski Compete At NCAA Championships

Evelyn Ross (JR, Iowa City, IA) and Brian Kopczynski (FR, Coto de Caza) competed as individuals at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday in Northfield, MN.  Ross finished 81st overall and Kopczynski was 142nd.  Both the men's and women's races had 280 competitors - 224 running on teams and 56 running as individuals.

This was Ross' second trip to the cross country nationals.  She also went in 2005 as a member of a team which finished 18th.  She was 143rd that year.  This race she ran in the top 100 the entire race and finished with her second best time - 22:49.9.  She was the 29th individual finisher, the 26th junior and is the 47th returner for next year.

Kopczynski was one of only 32 freshman competing in the race and one of only three to qualify as an individual.  He was the seventh freshman finisher and the top freshman individual.  He was the 38th individual overall and is the 75th returner for next year.  He also ran his second best time ever - 26:02.1.
