Stags Dominate Cross Street Rivals

CMS beat Pomona-Pitzer 3-1 at home on Saturday and the score could have been much worse.  The Stags outshot the Sagehens 24-5, hit the post three times and the Hen keeper made 13 saves in the game.  CMS improved to 2-2 overall and are one of three teams 2-0 in the SCIAC.

Max Lipset (SR, St. Paul, MN [pictured]) put the team on the board early with a fourth minute conversion of a pass from Griffin Halpern (SR, San Diego).  Halpern added an unassisted goal of his own three minutes later.  Pomona-Pitzer was able to cut the lead in half midway through the first period, but rarely threatened the rest of the game.  Lipset redirected an Adam Johnson (SR, Boulder, CO) corner late in the second half for his sixth goal of the season and final margin.

CMS takes a short road trip to La Verne for their next game.  It will be at 4:00 on Wednesday, September 19.
